Curriculum vitae
Research Interests
My broad interests lie in ecology and ecosystem sustainability that stems from my beliefs that the integration of ecological knowledge in environmental decision making and management is crucial. With the help of scientific techniques in landscape and ecosystem ecology, I aim to produce research that is relevant and highly applicable to environmental conservation and sustainability. I, therefore, value collaborations and partnerships with non-academic institutions, non-profit agencies, and stakeholders to promote sound ecological management practices.
- Landscape ecology (natural-terrestrial and agricultural landscapes)
- Ecosystem services
- Ecosystem sustainability
- Conservation ecology
- Biodiversity
- Climate Change
- Geographic information system (GIS)
Current Projects
I am a part of an interdisciplinary project called FEWscapes focused on the security and sustainability of food, energy, water, and ecosystem in the Upper Mississippi River Basin. We are a team with diverse expertise in ecosystem & landscape ecology, agroecology, hydroecology, modeling, climate change, policy, management, outreach, and stakeholder engagement.
I am currently conducting research on assessing the sensitivity and response of crops vs. semi-natural vegetation to extreme weather events (drought and extreme precipitation) in Wisconsin.
